Orion #10

Orion #10, published in 2001, stands as a pivotal chapter in the critically acclaimed series written and illustrated by Jack Kirby's protégé, Walter Simonson. The series was designed to revisit and expand upon Kirby's Fourth World mythology, blending high-stakes cosmic opera with the distinct aesthetic sensibilities Simonson developed throughout his celebrated career in comics. By placing Orion in the center of a complex web of political intrigue and mythic conflict, Simonson sought to honor the grand, operatic scope of the original Kirby run while injecting a modern sense of pacing and character development.

The issue received positive attention from fans and critics for its kinetic storytelling and Simonson's ability to balance the inherent strangeness of the New Gods with compelling human drama. As part of a series that is often viewed as a definitive modernization of DC's cosmic corner, the issue is appreciated for its meticulous craftsmanship and its commitment to the legacy of the Fourth World, serving as a testament to Simonson's deep understanding of the source material and his innovative approach to superhero characterization.
