Orion #3

Orion number 3 was published by DC Comics in August 2000 as part of the acclaimed series written and illustrated by Walt Simonson. This series was born from Simonson's deep affinity for Jack Kirby’s Fourth World mythology, aiming to modernize and expand upon the cosmic struggle between the forces of New Genesis and Apokolips. By focusing on the complex, volatile psyche of Orion, Simonson sought to capture the high-stakes, mythic operatics that defined the original Kirby era while infusing them with his own signature visual dynamism and intricate storytelling rhythms.

The design and narrative approach were met with significant praise from critics and fans alike, who lauded Simonson's ability to maintain the aesthetic integrity of Kirby’s source material while establishing a distinct, contemporary voice for the characters. The series is frequently cited for its masterful blend of superhero action and epic tragedy, with this particular issue contributing to the ongoing tension as Orion navigates the dangerous political landscape of his own heritage. Its reputation remains tied to its status as a definitive exploration of one of the most powerful and conflicted figures in the DC Universe.
