Otoko Zaka #1

Otoko Zaka #1 was first published in 1984 in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump. Created by Masami Kurumada, the series emerged at a time when the artist was already gaining significant momentum with his work. The narrative centers on Jingi, a character defined by an indomitable fighting spirit and a refusal to back down, embodying the quintessential delinquent-themed shonen tropes popular during that era of Japanese manga.

The series was designed to showcase Kurumada's signature high-octane action style and dramatic character expressions. Despite the author's prior successes, Otoko Zaka struggled to gain traction against the stiff competition of the mid-1980s manga landscape, leading to a relatively abrupt conclusion. It eventually gained a cult following decades later, which led to the author revisiting and reviving the series in 2014 to provide a proper conclusion.
