Where it came from
Oz #7 was published by Marvel Comics in 1992 as part of a limited series adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s literary classics. This specific run sought to translate the whimsical and often surreal tone of the Oz books into a modern comic book format, aiming to capture both the nostalgia of the original stories and the aesthetic sensibilities of nineties-era fantasy illustration.
The series featured creative contributions from writer Eric Shanower and artist Skottie Young, who were noted for their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the original source material. While the series received critical acclaim for its meticulous world-building and adherence to the spirit of Baum's work, it remained a niche interest within the broader comic market, finding a dedicated audience among bibliophiles and fantasy enthusiasts.
