Planet of the Apes #10

Planet of the Apes #10 was published by Marvel Comics in 1975 as part of their black-and-white magazine series. During this mid-1970s era, Marvel leveraged their acquisition of the franchise rights to expand the cinematic world through high-quality illustrated stories, aiming to capture the interest of adult fans who appreciated the socio-political themes of the original film series. The magazine format allowed for longer, more complex narratives than standard comic books of the time, providing creators with the space to develop intricate post-apocalyptic settings.

This specific issue featured cover art by Ken Barr, a prolific artist known for his dynamic work on Marvel’s magazine line during this period. The interior content often combined adaptations of the film sequels with original stories that explored different corners of the ape-dominated future. The series was generally well-received by fans of the genre for its atmospheric tone and commitment to the established aesthetic of the movies, serving as a significant artifact of the 1970s science fiction boom in comics.
