Power Pack #28

Power Pack #28, published in 1987, is part of a seminal Marvel Comics series created by Louise Simonson and artist June Brigman. The series was groundbreaking for its era, focusing on a group of young siblings who receive superhuman abilities from a dying alien. The narrative tone was distinct for Marvel at the time, balancing traditional superhero action with a genuine, grounded exploration of family dynamics, childhood struggles, and the moral complexities of secret identities.

This specific issue features the work of artist Jon Bogdanove, who took over the book's visual direction during this period. Bogdanove’s art style leaned into a slightly more stylized and energetic aesthetic, which helped maintain the book’s identity as it transitioned from its initial launch. The title was widely praised by critics and readers for its emotional depth and refusal to treat its child protagonists as mere sidekicks, securing its status as a cult favorite within the Marvel canon.
