Where it came from
Quantum & Woody #0 was released in 1997 by Acclaim Comics as part of the meta-fictional expansion of the Quantum & Woody series. This issue served as a canonical 'lost' chapter, designed to flesh out the erratic, humorous tone that defined Christopher Priest and M.D. Bright’s run. It arrived during a period when the publisher was actively experimenting with unconventional storytelling and self-referential humor that broke the fourth wall of the superhero genre.
The issue was crafted by the original creative team of writer Christopher Priest and artist M.D. Bright. Their design intent focused on a chaotic, buddy-comedy structure that prioritized character banter over traditional heroic archetypes. Upon release, the issue was well-received by fans of the series for its irreverent style and its ability to seamlessly integrate into the established narrative while maintaining the quirky, subversive voice that made the title a cult classic in the late nineties.
