Robin II: The Joker's Wild! #1

Released in 1991, Robin II: The Joker's Wild! was a four-part prestige format miniseries published by DC Comics. This project emerged at the height of Tim Drake’s popularity as the new Robin, following the successful miniseries that established his transition from a supporting character to an independent hero. The series was designed to showcase Robin's growth by pitting him against his predecessor's greatest nemesis, the Joker, in a high-stakes psychological and physical conflict.

The series was written by Chuck Dixon, a definitive voice for the character during the 1990s, with interior art and character designs provided by Tom Lyle. Lyle utilized the prestige format to employ a more detailed, cinematic approach to panel layouts, reflecting the dark, gritty aesthetic common to Gotham-based titles of that era. The book was well-received by fans at the time for its focus on Robin’s tactical intellect and his struggle to prove himself worthy of the mantle, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the Batman mythos.
