Savage Dragon #31

Published by Image Comics in 1996, Savage Dragon #31 represents a significant milestone in the series created by Erik Larsen. As a foundational title of the Image Comics movement, the series was designed to showcase creator-owned characters with a kinetic, energetic aesthetic inspired by the superhero tropes of the Silver Age. This particular issue continues the narrative progression of Malcolm Dragon and his father, reflecting Larsen's distinct style that balances gritty urban crime drama with over-the-top superhero action.

The art and storytelling in issue #31 serve as an example of Larsen's long-term commitment to a singular vision for his protagonist. During this era, the series was well-received by fans of the Image stable for its consistent tone and Larsen's ability to maintain a dense, character-driven continuity. The issue fits into the wider context of 1990s creator-owned comics, functioning as a bridge between the initial success of the title's launch and its eventual status as one of the longest-running independent comic book series in history.
