Secret Wars II #8

Secret Wars II #8 was published by Marvel Comics in 1986 as part of a sprawling crossover event written by Jim Shooter. The series followed the Beyonder, an omnipotent entity exploring human nature on Earth, and this specific issue is widely noted for its pivotal role in the development of the Molecule Man and his companion, Volcana. It emerged during a decade where Marvel was actively experimenting with large-scale continuity-shifting sagas that forced disparate characters into a single narrative framework.

The issue features cover art and interior illustration by Al Milgrom, whose style defined much of Marvel's house aesthetic during the mid-eighties. The creative direction for the series aimed to balance grand cosmic stakes with individual character growth, though the dense, metaphysical plotting often met with mixed reviews from contemporary critics and readers who found the Beyonder’s complex journey difficult to track compared to the original Secret Wars event.
