Secret Wars II #6

Secret Wars II #6, published in 1985, was part of a sprawling crossover event written by Jim Shooter, the Marvel Comics editor-in-chief at the time. Following the massive commercial success of the original 1984 Secret Wars, this sequel was designed to integrate the omnipotent character the Beyonder into every corner of the Marvel Universe. The series was ambitious in scope, aiming to explore the Beyonder's confusion as he attempted to understand human desire and morality by interacting with a wide array of iconic heroes and villains.

The art for this issue was provided by Al Milgrom, whose work was tasked with maintaining visual consistency across a narrative that spanned nearly every title Marvel published that year. While the original Secret Wars is often remembered as a landmark for its toy-tie-in nature and contained narrative, Secret Wars II is frequently cited by critics and fans for its disjointed pacing and the sheer difficulty of anchoring such a high-concept, god-like protagonist within established continuity. Despite these reception challenges, the series remains a notable artifact of the mid-1980s trend of event-driven storytelling.
