Sergio Aragonés Groo #12

Groo the Wanderer, issue 12, was published in 1986 during the series' tenure at Epic Comics, an imprint of Marvel. Created by cartoonist Sergio Aragonés and writer Mark Evanier, the series follows the misadventures of a dim-witted but lethal barbarian. It originated from the duo’s collaboration at Pacific Comics before moving to Marvel, where it became a cult classic for its sharp satire of fantasy tropes and its distinctively fluid, kinetic art style.

The design of the book is characterized by Aragonés’s signature pantomime-style illustration, which emphasizes physical comedy and intricate background gags. Known for his work at Mad magazine, Aragonés intended for the series to be accessible and humorous, utilizing minimal dialogue to highlight the absurdity of Groo's incompetence. The series was well-received by readers and critics for maintaining a consistent level of wit and visual inventiveness throughout its long-running publication history.
