Silas Corey #2

Silas Corey is a historical thriller comic series written by Fabien Nury and illustrated by Pierre Alary, which debuted in France in 2013. Set in 1917 Paris, the narrative follows the titular protagonist, a disgraced investigative journalist and private detective navigating the complex espionage of the First World War. The series was designed to blend the gritty aesthetic of film noir with the turbulent political atmosphere of early 20th-century Europe, focusing on atmospheric storytelling and a morally ambiguous lead character.

The second issue continues the 'Le Réseau Aquila' arc, further developing the dark, suspenseful tone established in the series launch. Pierre Alary’s dynamic linework and expressive character design received critical praise for its ability to capture the frantic energy of war-era Paris. By grounding the detective fiction in authentic historical settings and political tension, Nury and Alary created a work that stands out within the European graphic novel tradition for its polished execution and noir-inspired sensibilities.
