Silas Corey #1

Silas Corey #1, titled 'Le Réseau Aquila', was created by writer Fabien Nury and artist Pierre Alary, first published in 2013 by Glénat. Set in 1917 Paris, the series introduces a cynical, charismatic private investigator caught in the web of French intelligence and international espionage during the Great War. Nury conceived the character as a quintessentially flawed, hard-boiled protagonist operating in a historical landscape defined by shifting loyalties and systemic betrayal.

The aesthetic of the series, meticulously crafted by Pierre Alary, draws heavily from the moody visual language of film noir and the historical textures of post-WWI Europe. Alary employed a dynamic, cinematic approach to panel layout and character design, aiming to blend rigorous historical accuracy with the high-stakes pacing of a thriller. Upon its debut, the series was well-received by the European comics community for its atmospheric storytelling and the successful fusion of historical fiction with the investigative thriller genre.
