Smax #2

Smax #2 was published in 2003 as part of a five-issue limited series under the America's Best Comics imprint. Created by writer Alan Moore and artist Zander Cannon, the series serves as a spin-off to the popular Top 10 universe, focusing on the character Jeff Smax. The narrative was conceived to explore the personal background and home planet of the giant, blue-skinned police officer, shifting the perspective from the urban procedural style of the original series toward a more adventurous, fantasy-inflected fish-out-of-water story.

The visual identity of the series was defined by Zander Cannon, whose clean, precise linework was intended to bridge the gap between the gritty police procedural tone of Top 10 and the more surreal, alien environment of Smax's upbringing. Upon its release, the series was well-received by critics and fans for its ability to maintain the sharp, satirical wit typical of Alan Moore's writing while deepening the characterization of a supporting player into a compelling lead figure.
