Spider-Woman #36

Spider-Woman number 36, published in 1981, arrived during the final stretch of Jessica Drew's original solo series. At this stage in the character's history, the narrative had shifted away from her traditional espionage roots toward a more grounded, urban setting in San Francisco, reflecting the shifting tonal preferences of Marvel Comics during the early eighties.

The cover and interior art from this period often emphasized the character's struggle to balance her complex personal life with her burgeoning superhero responsibilities. While the series did not reach the same cultural ubiquity as the core Spider-Man titles, it remains a notable example of Marvel's effort to expand its roster of female-led solo books, curated by editors who were increasingly experimental with character development and genre blending.
