Spider-Woman #44

Spider-Woman issue 44 was published in 1982 as part of the original ongoing series featuring Jessica Drew. By this point in the series' run, the title had moved through several creative shifts as Marvel Comics attempted to stabilize the character's tone and rogues' gallery. This period is noted for balancing traditional superhero conventions with the character’s origins as a former Hydra operative turned private investigator.

The cover art and interior narrative reflect the transition towards more experimental storytelling common in Bronze Age comics. The creative teams of the era sought to deepen the mystery surrounding Drew's past while integrating her into the broader Marvel Universe. Though the series was eventually canceled shortly after this period, the character remained a recurring figure in the Marvel canon, eventually leading to a significant revival and modern status as a staple of the Avengers.
