Stray Toasters #1

Stray Toasters #1 was published by Marvel Comics' Epic Comics imprint in 1988, marking the solo creator-owned debut of writer and artist Bill Sienkiewicz. Born out of the experimental climate of the late eighties, the four-issue limited series was designed as a surrealist, genre-defying exploration of psychological fragmentation. Sienkiewicz sought to push the boundaries of traditional comic book storytelling, utilizing a chaotic blend of mixed media, including paint, collage, and ink, to mirror the unstable mental state of the protagonist, Egon Rustemagick.

The series was conceived as a departure from the conventional narrative structures of superhero comics, focusing instead on a dark, labyrinthine mystery involving a child psychologist and a series of murders.
