Super Creepshow #1

Super Creepshow #1 was published by Image Comics, emerging as a vibrant addition to the indie horror-anthology scene. It was designed to pay homage to the classic, gritty EC Comics tradition, focusing on macabre storytelling and stylized, grotesque artwork. The project was conceived as a platform for various creators to explore dark, supernatural, and satirical themes, leaning heavily into the nostalgia of mid-century pulp horror.

The visual identity of the series relies on a mix of visceral, high-contrast illustration and campy narrative structures. By blending modern printing techniques with a vintage aesthetic, the creators sought to capture the visceral thrill of basement-dwelling horror comics. Upon release, it was received as a fun, self-aware exercise in genre fiction that prioritizes atmosphere and dark humor over long-form serialized plot arcs.
