Superman #183

Superman #183 was published by DC Comics in January 1966. This era of the Silver Age was characterized by a shift toward more lighthearted and sometimes whimsical storytelling, often featuring experimental cover concepts. The issue reflects the editorial direction under Mort Weisinger, who oversaw the Superman titles with a focus on reader-friendly, episodic adventures that often leaned into science fiction tropes of the mid-1960s.

The issue features artwork by Curt Swan, who is widely regarded as the definitive Superman artist of the mid-20th century. Swan’s clean, grounded style provided a sense of stability for the character during a period of frequent narrative experimentation. The issue is noted for its cover, which typical of the time, uses a high-concept premise to entice readers, though it remains a standard installment in the long-running series rather than a major key issue.
