Superman #358

Published by DC Comics in April 1981, Superman #358 represents a period in the late Bronze Age of comics where the character's narrative focus began to shift toward more introspective storytelling. Written by Cary Bates with interior art by Curt Swan and Bob Oksner, the issue features a cover by José Luis García-López, whose definitive style for the character became the DC house standard for decades. This particular story continues the exploration of Superman's dual identity and his complex relationships within the Metropolis supporting cast, a hallmark of the long-running series during this editorial era.

The creative team behind this issue was deeply entrenched in the Silver and Bronze Age traditions that emphasized stability and long-form character development. Curt Swan, often referred to as the definitive Superman artist of his time, provided the clean, reliable aesthetic that defined the title for much of the 1970s and 80s. The issue was received as a standard installment of the ongoing monthly series, appreciated by contemporary readers for its consistency in tone and the familiar, polished artwork that had become synonymous with the Man of Steel's primary publication.
