Superman #91

Superman issue 91 was published by DC Comics in August 1954, appearing during the post-war era when the comic book industry faced significant scrutiny following the publication of Fredric Wertham's Seduction of the Innocent. This period forced DC to navigate a transition toward the restrictive Comics Code Authority, which would fundamentally alter the tone and content of superhero storytelling in the years immediately following this issue's release.

The issue features artwork primarily credited to Al Plastino, a long-time contributor to the Superman mythos. Plastino was known for his clean, classic style that defined the visual language of the Silver Age transition. The stories of this era aimed to maintain the hero's wholesome, archetypal presence, focusing on self-contained adventures that emphasized Superman's role as a benevolent force in Metropolis, serving both to entertain younger audiences and satisfy the growing social pressure for sanitized moral content.
