Superman #673

Superman #673 was published in April 2008 as part of the DC Comics post-Infinite Crisis era, specifically falling within the narrative arc titled The Third Kryptonian. Written by Kurt Busiek with interior art by Renato Guedes, the issue continues the exploration of Superman's cultural identity and his shifting responsibilities on Earth. The story was part of a concerted effort by DC to refine the mythos of Krypton, introducing new complexities to the surviving lineage of the planet.

The visual direction, led by Guedes, aimed for a grounded, modern aesthetic that contrasted with the more stylized heroic art of previous decades. By emphasizing the alien nature of the technology and the psychological weight of Superman's heritage, the creative team sought to make the character feel more isolated and burdened. Upon its release, the issue was noted for its focus on character-driven science fiction, serving as a pivot point for the longer-running storylines Busiek was orchestrating during his tenure on the title.
