Supplément de Zorro #12

Supplément de Zorro was a French comic book series published by Éditions de la Séma during the mid-20th century. As part of a wave of popular adventure comics that emerged in post-war France, these publications often featured translations or original spin-offs of the Zorro character created by Johnston McCulley. The series catered to a young audience captivated by tales of heroism and masked vigilantes, functioning as a budget-friendly periodical that brought episodic serials to local newsstands.

The visual design of these issues was characteristic of the era's pulp aesthetic, often utilizing high-contrast, dynamic black-and-white or limited-color cover art meant to grab the reader's attention quickly. While the artistic contributions for individual issues like number 12 are often attributed to the studio house styles of the publisher, the aesthetic was heavily influenced by the swashbuckling cinematography of Hollywood Zorro films, which were essential in shaping the character's iconography for European readers.
