Supplément de Zorro #9

Supplément de Zorro was a French-language comic series published in the mid-20th century, emerging during a period when the adventures of Johnston McCulley’s masked vigilante were extremely popular in Europe through serialized magazines and translated comic albums. These supplements were typically produced as companion publications to the main Zorro runs, often featuring a mix of reprints, new short stories, and promotional content intended to satiate the high demand from young readers for serialized hero fiction.

The design of these issues relied on the classic pulp aesthetic, characterized by bold, high-contrast black-and-white or limited-color lithography. They were created by a rotating group of artists and editors who aimed to maintain the visual consistency of Zorro’s iconic silhouette—his cape, mask, and signature sword—across various formats. The series was generally received as a staple of the 'petits formats' landscape in France, serving as affordable, widely accessible entertainment that solidified the character's status as a foundational figure in continental pop culture.
