Supreme Power #10

Supreme Power #10, published in 2004, is a pivotal installment in the Marvel MAX imprint series written by J. Michael Straczynski. The series was designed as a gritty, deconstructionist reimagining of the classic Squadron Supreme characters, aiming to explore how super-powered individuals would genuinely interact with the political and social realities of a modern, cynical world. By stripping away the traditional tropes of heroism, the narrative focuses on moral ambiguity and the consequences of absolute power.

The interior artwork for this issue was provided by Gary Frank, whose detailed, grounded style was instrumental in establishing the book's realistic aesthetic. Frank's work was specifically intended to bridge the gap between traditional comic book aesthetics and a more cinematic, lifelike approach, reinforcing the grounded nature of the writing. Upon release, the series was well-received by critics and readers alike for its sophisticated thematic depth and its successful departure from standard superhero storytelling conventions.
