Tales of Suspense #85

Tales of Suspense number 85 was published by Marvel Comics in January 1967 during the publisher's Silver Age era. This issue features a split narrative, continuing the ongoing Iron Man series and the Captain America series. This era of Marvel history is defined by the collaborative efforts of writer Stan Lee and artists like Gene Colan and Jack Kirby, who helped cement the interconnected nature of the Marvel Universe during a period of significant growth for the company.

The cover art and interior pencils for this issue were provided by Gene Colan, whose moody, cinematic style provided a distinct aesthetic for the Iron Man segments of the title. Colan worked alongside inkers like Frank Giacoia to maintain a gritty, grounded feel for Tony Stark's adventures. The series was designed to showcase both sci-fi corporate espionage and classic superhero adventuring, and it was generally well-received by readers as a cornerstone of the burgeoning Marvel imprint.
