Tales of the Green Lantern Corps #3

Tales of the Green Lantern Corps #3 was published in June 1981 as part of a three-issue limited series that served as the first major spin-off for the Green Lantern franchise. DC Comics produced this series to capitalize on the popularity of the Green Lantern Corps concept, specifically focusing on the ensemble of alien officers rather than just Hal Jordan. The story, written by Mike W. Barr and Len Wein with art by Joe Staton, centers on the climactic battle against the villainous Krona and Nekron, concluding the cosmic struggle that threatened the existence of the universe.

The series design was heavily influenced by the collaborative efforts of the editorial team to flesh out the diverse members of the Corps, many of whom had only appeared in brief cameos previously. Joe Staton’s illustrative style provided a distinct, clean aesthetic that helped define the visual identity of the various alien Lanterns during this period. The issue was well-received by fans of the era for its ambitious scope and for successfully expanding the lore of the Guardians of the Universe beyond a single protagonist.
