Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1

Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1 was published by DC Comics in 1989, emerging during a period when the publisher sought to expand the mythos of the Green Lantern Corps through dedicated miniseries. This three-issue limited series was created to delve into the erratic and abrasive personality of Guy Gardner, who had evolved from a secondary character into a polarizing fan favorite following his return from a coma in the mid-1980s.

The issue was written by Steve Englehart with artwork by Joe Staton and Mark Farmer. Staton, a veteran artist of the Green Lantern franchise, leaned into a dynamic, classic superhero aesthetic to contrast with Gardner's increasingly volatile and non-traditional temperament. The series aimed to solidify Gardner as a distinct, anti-heroic figure within the DC Universe, and it was generally well-received by readers who appreciated the focus on his personal psychological struggles and his complex relationships with fellow Corps members.
