Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures #4

Released in 2023 by IDW Publishing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures #4 serves as a nostalgic homage to the iconic 1987 animated series. The series was designed to capture the lighthearted, episodic nature of the original cartoon, moving away from the grittier tone found in other modern TMNT comic iterations. It serves as a creative bridge for fans of the eighties animation style, utilizing a bright color palette and simplified character designs to evoke the look and feel of the original Saturday morning broadcast block.

The issue was written by Erik Burnham and features art by Dan Schoening, a creative pairing well-regarded for their work on previous TMNT projects. Their intent was to lean into the absurdity and camaraderie of the Turtles, with this specific issue focusing on the dynamic between the protagonists and their classic rogues' gallery. Upon release, the series was received as a welcoming, low-stakes alternative for long-time fans who grew up watching the original series, successfully translating the pacing and humor of television animation into the sequential storytelling format.
