The Amazing Spider-Man #243

The Amazing Spider-Man #243 was published by Marvel Comics in August 1983 as part of the long-running flagship series. This issue is notable for being part of the mid-1980s era of the title, which was then being written by Roger Stern. The narrative context focuses on Peter Parker navigating his complex personal life alongside his duties as Spider-Man, a hallmark of the grounded, character-driven storytelling that defined Stern’s tenure on the character.

The cover art and interior illustrations for this period frequently featured the work of artists like Ron Frenz, who brought a dynamic, kinetic style to the page that influenced the visual direction of Spider-Man for years to come. Designed to appeal to existing readers while maintaining the accessibility of the monthly anthology format, this issue reflects the standard production values of Bronze Age Marvel, characterized by newsprint stock and classic four-color printing processes that are now highly regarded by collectors for their historical aesthetic.
