Where it came from
The Amazing Spider-Man issue 82 was published by Marvel Comics in March 1970 during the Silver Age of comic books. Coming out of the creative momentum of the late 1960s, this story follows Peter Parker as he deals with both his personal life and the encroaching presence of the Maggia crime syndicate. It reflects a period where the narrative began balancing grounded social challenges with the escalating stakes of superhero crime-fighting.
The issue features the iconic artistic work of John Romita Sr., whose clean, expressive style helped define the look of Spider-Man throughout this era. Stan Lee provided the script, maintaining the character's signature blend of internal monologue and external peril. The story was well-received by readers of the time for its focus on character development and the introduction of the villainous character known as the Shocker's associates within the wider Maggia framework.
