The Art of Ian Miller #1

The Art of Ian Miller #1 emerged from the late 20th-century flourishing of fantasy and gothic illustration. Ian Miller, a British artist renowned for his intricate, surrealist pen-and-ink style, gained significant prominence through his work for tabletop gaming companies like Games Workshop and his contributions to the dark fantasy aesthetic of the 1970s and 1980s. This volume was curated to showcase the chaotic, organic detail that defined his signature approach to world-building.

The collection reflects Miller’s influence on the visual language of sword-and-sorcery media, compiling works that highlight his mastery of texture and perspective. While much of his acclaim stems from his commercial collaborations, this issue serves as a focused retrospective of his personal artistic vision. It was received by fans of the dark fantasy genre as a seminal look at the technical rigor and imaginative depth required to construct Miller's sprawling, architectural landscapes.
