The Avengers #261

Published in November 1985, The Avengers issue #261 emerged during a period of significant transition for Marvel's premier superhero team. The story, titled 'Haven', was written by Roger Stern and featured pencils by John Buscema. This era of the series is noted for its focus on character-driven interpersonal dynamics, reflecting a shift toward more grounded storytelling within the expansive Marvel Universe during the mid-eighties.

The issue serves as a chapter in the larger narrative arc involving the arrival of the Avengers at the interdimensional sanctuary known as Haven. John Buscema, a legendary figure in the comic book industry, brought his dynamic and classical illustrative style to the title, aiming to balance high-stakes cosmic action with the complex roster dynamics of the period. It was generally well-received by contemporary readers who appreciated Stern's steady hand in managing a large cast of characters.
