The Brave and the Bold #198

The Brave and the Bold #198, published in May 1983, serves as a significant entry in the twilight of DC Comics' long-running team-up series. This issue is notable for featuring a team-up between Batman and the Creeper, written by Mike W. Barr with art by Dave Gibbons. The narrative focuses on the dynamic between the Dark Knight's grounded, tactical approach and the Creeper's unpredictable, chaotic nature, a pairing that reflects the series' tradition of testing Batman's patience against more eccentric figures from the DC stable.

The design of the book adheres to the established aesthetic of early 1980s DC titles, balancing traditional panel layouts with the cleaner, more structured draftsmanship that Dave Gibbons would soon bring to broader acclaim in Watchmen. While this issue was one of the final installments before the series concluded with issue #200 to make way for Batman and the Outsiders, it is regarded by collectors as a representative example of the title's shift toward more character-driven interplay in its concluding years.
