The Demon King is Way Too Overprotective! #2

The Demon King is Way Too Overprotective! is a light novel series written by Nekoko and illustrated by Hiyori Yamada. It originated as a web novel published on the Japanese user-generated content platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō before being acquired for physical print publication by Kadokawa under their Kadokawa Beans Bunko label, beginning in 2019. The series fits firmly within the comedic fantasy subgenre, blending romantic elements with the chaotic energy of a protagonist whose extreme personality traits drive the narrative conflict.

The second volume continues the central premise of the series, focusing on the titular Demon King’s obsessive and often misguided attempts to protect his consort. Hiyori Yamada’s character designs are central to the series' appeal, utilizing a soft, shōjo-influenced aesthetic that contrasts sharply with the absurd, high-stakes situations the characters encounter. The volume was received as a lighthearted expansion of the established world, maintaining the tone set by its predecessor while further developing the interplay between the two leads.
