The Eternals #10

The Eternals #10, published in April 1977, arrived during the middle of Jack Kirby’s ambitious return to Marvel Comics. Created by Kirby after his departure from DC, the series was designed to explore themes of mythology, space exploration, and the evolution of humanity. This specific issue features the pivotal confrontation between the Eternals and the Deviants within the underground city of Lemuria, showcasing the expansive, high-concept world-building that defined the series.

The visual identity of the issue is inseparable from Kirby’s signature dynamic style, characterized by dense, powerful compositions and his distinct sense of scale. As the series progressed toward its conclusion, the writing leaned heavily into the cosmic stakes of its characters. While the initial reception of the series was mixed among readers accustomed to traditional street-level superhero stories, it has since been reassessed as a foundational text in Marvel lore, deeply influencing the cosmic scope of the publisher's modern narrative universe.
