Where it came from
Published by DC Comics in 1977, The Flash #248 belongs to the Bronze Age of comic books, a period characterized by more mature thematic exploration and shifts in artistic tone. This issue arrived during a transitional era for the character of Barry Allen, as the creative teams worked to balance traditional superhero tropes with the evolving narrative sensibilities of the late 1970s.
The cover and interior art reflect the house style of DC during this period, emphasizing kinetic energy and the classic aesthetic of the Scarlet Speedster. While not part of a major crossover event, this issue serves as a snapshot of the ongoing, long-form storytelling that defined the Flash’s series throughout the decade, maintaining the legacy of the character established in the Silver Age while navigating the industry-wide focus on character-driven conflict.
