The Fury of Firestorm #25

The Fury of Firestorm #25, published by DC Comics in July 1984, arrived during a pivotal period for the character. By this point in the series, the book had firmly established the unique dynamic of Ronnie Raymond and Professor Martin Stein, who fused to form the nuclear hero. This issue captures the mid-1980s tone of DC's output, balancing high-stakes cosmic threats with the domestic complications of the protagonists' lives, a hallmark of the series' creative direction under writer Gerry Conway.

The interior art for this period of the series was defined by the work of Rafael Kayanan, who brought a clean, dynamic aesthetic to the title that helped define Firestorm's visual identity for the decade. The cover art, often a collaborative effort in this era, aimed to convey the immediate urgency and elemental scale of the character's powers. Critically, the series was well-regarded for its attempt to explore themes of duality and scientific responsibility, positioning Firestorm as a staple of the DC Universe throughout the Reagan-era transition in superhero storytelling.
