The Invisibles, Volume Two #15

Published in 1998 by Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics, The Invisibles Volume Two #15 serves as a pivotal installment in Grant Morrison's seminal metaphysical counter-culture series. The narrative explores the ongoing battle between the Invisibles—an underground cell of guerrilla freedom fighters—and the archons of the outer church. This specific issue was crafted during the height of the series' creative experimentation, reflecting Morrison’s desire to blend high-concept chaos magic with traditional comic book structure.

The interior art for this issue was primarily handled by Sean Phillips, whose gritty, atmospheric style helped ground the series' surrealist themes in a stark, urban reality. Phillips was chosen for his ability to convey complex character dynamics and psychological tension, which were essential to the story's development. Upon release, the issue was noted by readers and critics for its dense, layered storytelling and its role in accelerating the plot toward the conclusion of the second volume, solidifying its place in the broader tradition of 1990s creator-owned comics.
