The Lady and Her Butler #5

The Lady and Her Butler, written and illustrated by Marc BERNARDIN and Ariela KRISTANTINA, emerged as a notable title within the contemporary independent comics landscape. Published by Image Comics, the series debuted in 2017 with a premise blending elements of surrealism and domestic drama, focusing on the mysterious arrival of an enigmatic butler in the life of a troubled young woman. The fifth issue continues the progression of this unconventional relationship, set against an art style that favors moody shadows and stark, evocative linework.

Ariela Kristantina's visual approach for the series was specifically intended to capture a sense of unease and intimacy, distinguishing the book from standard superhero fare. The narrative, steered by Bernardin, received attention for its atmospheric tone and its exploration of identity and secrets. Upon its release, the series was well-regarded by critics for its distinct aesthetic and the deliberate, slow-burn pace that defines its storytelling rhythm throughout the earlier chapters.
