The New Adventures of Superboy #35

The New Adventures of Superboy #35, published in November 1982, emerged during a transitional period for DC Comics as the publisher sought to maintain the legacy of its core characters through spin-off titles. The series focused on the formative years of Clark Kent in Smallville, a narrative space designed to explore the hero's development before his move to Metropolis. This issue arrived as the title neared the end of its original run, reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of the Bronze Age of comic books.

The creative team for this issue included writer Cary Bates and artist Kurt Schaffenberger, whose work on the Superman family of titles was foundational during this era. Schaffenberger was particularly regarded for his clean, classic style which helped define the visual tone of the Superboy mythos. The issue is characteristic of the period's episodic storytelling, where the focus remained on the balance between adolescent domestic life and the early utilization of Kryptonian powers.
