The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #14

The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe was launched in 1983 as a comprehensive, encyclopedic resource designed to document the growing continuity of the Marvel comic line. Issue number 14 served as the final installment of the original series, acting as an update and appendix that gathered miscellaneous entries, corrections, and profiles that had been omitted from the previous thirteen issues. It functioned as an essential reference tool for fans navigating the intricate web of character relationships and powers established during the Bronze Age of comics.

The design and editorial direction were spearheaded by Mark Gruenwald, a legendary editor and writer known for his obsessive attention to internal consistency and lore. Gruenwald aimed to provide a definitive index that brought order to years of disparate storytelling, essentially creating a 'bible' for Marvel creators and readers alike. The handbook was received with significant critical acclaim for its ambitious scope and professional execution, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of comic book history and setting a standard for subsequent reference works.
