The Rocketeer: The Best of Rocketeer Adventures: Funko Edition #1

The Rocketeer: The Best of Rocketeer Adventures: Funko Edition #1 was released as part of a specialized collaborative effort between IDW Publishing and Funko. This iteration served to highlight the enduring legacy of Cliff Secord, the heroic pilot created by Dave Stevens, by compiling stories from the Rocketeer Adventures series. The design of this edition utilizes the signature aesthetic of Funko’s Pop! line, wrapping the classic pulp-inspired hero in a contemporary, stylized visual package intended to bridge the gap between traditional comic book readers and the modern collector community.

Dave Stevens, the original creator of The Rocketeer, drew heavily from 1930s aviation serials and pin-up art to craft a character that felt both nostalgic and timeless. This particular issue acknowledges that heritage while reframing it through the commercial lens of the Funko brand. When it reached the market, it was received primarily as a collectible tie-in piece, valued by fans of the franchise for its curated anthology of content and its distinct departure from the gritty, realistic artistic tone that characterized Stevens' original 1982 debut.
