Where it came from
The Uncanny X-Men #437, released in early 2004, is part of the long-running series that chronicles the adventures of Marvel's premiere mutant team. This specific issue falls within the 'The New Age' story arc, written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Alan Davis. The narrative explores the team's recovery following intense ideological conflicts, focusing on the dynamic between characters like Storm and Bishop as they navigate shifting geopolitical tensions regarding mutant registration.
Alan Davis is celebrated for his clean, dynamic linework, and his return to the X-Men title during this period was highly anticipated by longtime readers. His aesthetic choices in this issue emphasize a blend of classic superhero action and humanistic character interaction, characteristic of his tenure on the series. The work was generally well-received by the comic community for bridging the gap between Claremont’s complex character-driven plotting and a polished, modern visual sensibility.
