There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… is a Japanese light novel series written by Mikami Teren and illustrated by Takeshima Saku, which began serialization in 2020. The narrative fits within the popular 'yuri' romantic comedy genre, focusing on the complex, evolving relationship between two high school girls, Renako and Mai, as they navigate the tension between friendship and romantic feelings. The series is published under the Dengeki Bunko imprint, a label known for its prolific output of light novels that frequently transition into manga and anime adaptations.

Issue number six of the light novel series continues the established character dynamics, maintaining the series' signature blend of comedic misunderstandings and developing emotional intimacy. Takeshima Saku’s character designs are central to the series' aesthetic appeal, utilizing a soft, contemporary art style that emphasizes the expressive, often frantic, reactions of the protagonist. Upon its release, the volume was received positively by the light novel community, recognized for its consistent tone and the gradual, character-driven development of the central romance.
