Where it came from
This Land is Old and Dark #1 serves as the inaugural issue of a notable independent comic book series recognized for its atmospheric storytelling and distinct visual approach. Emerging within the landscape of small-press genre fiction, the series was conceived to explore themes of folklore, existential dread, and the uncanny, often utilizing a moody, high-contrast aesthetic that sets it apart from more traditional mainstream publications.
The creative direction behind the series emphasizes a grounded, narrative-first philosophy, with the artwork designed to complement the dense, character-driven scripts. Upon its release, the issue was well-received by readers and critics who value indie production for its willingness to experiment with pacing and dark, evocative imagery, establishing it as a cult-favorite entry for collectors of contemporary serialized graphic fiction.
