Thundercats Lost In Time #1

Thundercats: Lost in Time #1 was published by Marvel Comics under their Star Comics imprint in 1987. Emerging during the height of the original animated series' popularity, the issue was designed to capitalize on the franchise's success in the burgeoning Saturday morning cartoon market. It served as a narrative expansion, providing fans with original stories that bridged the gap between television broadcast schedules.

The creative direction for this series leaned into the high-fantasy aesthetic established by Rankin/Bass, aiming to capture the dynamic action of the animation within a static print medium. While the artwork sought to maintain visual consistency with the iconic character designs of Lion-O and his cohorts, the series was received primarily as a tie-in product for a younger demographic, cementing its status as a notable artifact of late-1980s media merchandising.
