Tribulaciones de X #12

Tribulaciones de X was a long-running science fiction anthology series published in Argentina during the mid-20th century. Issue 12 appeared during the series' mature phase, a period when the publication pivoted toward more experimental graphic storytelling to compete with the influx of international comics. It reflected the distinct aesthetic of the River Plate school of illustration, characterized by dramatic chiaroscuro and a gritty, noir-inflected approach to space opera.

The issue features work by artists associated with the Editorial Frontera circle, who were known for elevating pulp storytelling with sophisticated paneled layouts. While individual issues were intended as inexpensive newsstand reading for a mass audience, they have since been reevaluated by historians as significant artifacts of South American comic art, noted for their ability to blend existential thematic concerns with standard genre tropes.
