Ultimate Fantastic Four #30

Ultimate Fantastic Four #30 was published by Marvel Comics in 2006 as part of the publisher's Ultimate line, a reimagined continuity designed to modernize iconic characters for a 21st-century audience. This specific issue served as the conclusion to the 'Frightful' story arc, which explored the darker, more volatile tensions within the Ultimate version of the team. The title sought to distance itself from the campier tropes of the Silver Age, favoring grittier narratives and contemporary settings that appealed to a new generation of readers.

The issue was written by Mark Millar with art by Greg Land. The aesthetic direction reflected the high-gloss, photo-referenced style that Land became known for during this period, aiming for a cinematic visual experience that mirrored the blockbusters of the mid-2000s. While the Ultimate line initially received significant critical acclaim for its ambitious world-building, stories like this one were often debated by fans for balancing intense, character-driven melodrama with the established tropes of superhero team dynamics.
